kólaso
Lower Sorbian edit
Alternative forms edit
- kolaso (superseded)
Etymology edit
A back-formation from Proto-Slavic *kolesa (“wheels”) (compare Upper Sorbian and Czech koleso, Russian колесо́ (kolesó)), plural of *kolo, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos, from *kʷel- (“to turn”).
The sense “bicycle” is a semantic loan from German Rad (“wheel; bicycle”).
