From Central Proto-Philippine *Diət (“small; little; few”). Compare Kapampangan dit / lati, Bikol Central diit / dikit / sadit, Hanunoo dait, and Cebuano diyot. Doublet of juts. Possibly related to Proto-Austronesian *dikit. Compare Malay dikit.
