Verb

olla mieltä

1. to opine, have an opinion, to be of the opinion, to think (+ partitive)

   Mitä mieltä olet? ― What do you think? / What is your opinion?

   Olen sitä mieltä, että... ― I think that... / I'm of the opinion that...

2. (impersonal, (+inessive), in negative context) Synonym of olla järkeä (“to make sense”)

   Onko mitään mieltä lähteä nyt? ― Is there any point in going now?

   Tässä ehdotuksessa ei ole mitään mieltä. ― This proposal makes no sense.

Usage notes

• Alternative ways to express an opinion:

  Minusta meidän pitäisi... ― I think we should...

  (Minun) mielestäni meidän pitäisi... ― In my opinion we should...

Conjugation

See olla; mieltä is not inflected, and stays in the partitive even in verbal nouns.
