First attested in March 2002; formed as procto- (anus) +‎ -cracy (rule); equivalent to a hypothetical Ancient Greek etymon of the form *πρωκτοκρατία (prōktokratía), from πρωκτός (prōktós, anus) + κράτος (krátos, dominion”, “power).
