(dated, humorous) A hooded chaise; any similar horse-drawn vehicle with no definite name.
- 1938, Siegfried Sassoon, The Old Century and seven more years, London: Faber, page 134 (1968 edition):
  The odd-man gardener has brought the Rectory shandrydan round to the front door — it was a long elongated open vehicle drawn by a mild old mare named Lucy.
(dated, Ireland, humorous, derogatory) A vehicle; a carriage or cart.
