Etymology edit

From Proto-Mon-Khmer *t₁ac (to break, be severed); cognate with Muong Bi tếch, Khmer ដាច់ (dac), Koho tac (to cut), Halang kơtĕk (to snap, to break (rope)), Khasi thait (to snap), Khmu tec ("torn raggedly"). Compare also dứt.
