Etymology edit
From Ottoman Turkish اسسز, اصسز (iyssiz, issiz, ıssız, “ownerless, lonely”), equivalent to is + -siz. Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *idi (“owner, possessor”), whence iye. Compare Karakhanid [script needed] (īsi, iysi, “owner”) (from *iye + -si).
