The feminine, learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ψῆφος f (psêphos, pebble, counter, vote).
The colloquial masculine, inherited, perhaps from Byzantine Greek ψῆφος (psêphos), in analogy to other -ος masculine nouns.[1][2]
