Etymology edit

From *keläčäk (that which will (definitely) come), substantivised third person definite future form of the verb кел- (kel-) "to come", from Proto-Turkic *kẹl- (to come).

Cognate with Tatar киләчәк (kiläçäk), Bashkir киләсәк (kiləsək), Kazakh келешек (keleşek), Karachay-Balkar келеджек (kelecek), Kumyk гележек (gelejek), Uzbek kelajak, Uyghur كېلىچەك (këlichek), Turkish gelecek, Azerbaijani gələcək (future), etc.
