editEtymology
editFrom *yetäkči (“guide, the person who leads”), which in the meaning of "manager" appears to be a Central Asian innovation; derived from *yetäk "the action of leading a horse on a lead rope, or leading a person by the hand", from Proto-Turkic *yēt- (“to lead a person or animal”).
Cognate with Kazakh жетекші (jetekşı), Nogai етекши (yetekşi), Kyrgyz жетекчи (jetekci), Uzbek yetakchi, Uyghur يېتەكچى (yëtekchi, “leader, manager”); also compare with Khakas чидекчі (çidekçì, “a blind person's guide”), Tuvan чедикчи (çedikçi, “a blind person's guide”), etc.
