From *quban- (“to be glad, rejoice”), from Proto-Turkic *kïb (“luck, happiness”).[1]
Cognate with Kazakh қуану (quanu), Kyrgyz кубан- (kuban-), Karachay-Balkar къууаныргъа (quuanırğa), Uzbek quvonmoq, Turkmen guwanmak (“to be glad, rejoice”).
