Etymology edit

Traditionally connected with Old Armenian գեղ (geł, beauty), but this is rejected by Ačaṙyan, who considers it either to be a back-formation of Գեղամայ (Gełamay) (found in some placenames) by Movsēs Xorenacʿi, or of Urartian origin.

Proper noun edit

Գեղամ (Gełam)

  1. (Armenian mythology) a male given name, borne only by the legendary Gegham, a descendant of Hayk
