The first part is either ակն (akn, jewel, gem) or ակն (akn, spring, source). The origin and meaning of *կիտ (*kit) is uncertain; it may mean ‘shine’ or ‘clear, limpid’, in which case the compound would mean ‘shiny like a jewel’ or ‘having a limpid source/spring’.
