Armenian edit

Etymology edit

From Old Armenian իս (is) with the accusative case marker զ- (z-).

Pronoun edit

զիս (zis) (Western Armenian)

  1. accusative singular of ես (es), me
    Ինչո՞ւ զիս չես սիրեր։
    Inčʻu? zis čʻes sirer.
    Why don't you love me?

Usage notes edit

In spoken Western Armenian, this and other accusative declensions of personal pronouns (զիս, քեզ, զինք, զայն, մեզ, ձեզ, զիրենք, զանոնք) are generally not used. Instead, the dative declension is used, e.g., ինծի (inci) instead of զիս.
