editEmphatic state of אוֹרָיָא, derived from the verb אוֹרִי, analysable as the hifˈil (הִפְעִיל) conjugation of יְרִי. Cognate with Hebrew תּוֹרָה (torá).[1] Ultimately derived from Proto-West Semitic *waraw- (“to throw, cast, lead, guide”).[2]
