اِنْقَلَبَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ (inqalaba ʕalā ʕaqibayhi)

  1. to turn on one's heel, to spin on one's heel
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 3:144:
      وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِي اللَّهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ
      Muḥammad is but a messenger, before whom there were other messengers. If he dies or is killed, will you turn on your heel? Whoever turns on his heel can never harm God. God shall reward the thankful.
