Etymology 2
editFrom Persian زردخانه (zarad-xâne, literally “armshouse”), compound of the Arabic زَرَد (zarad, “armour”) and Persian خانه (xâne, “house”). Akin to Georgian ზარადხანა (zaradxana), ზარდახანა (zardaxana), Middle Armenian զառատխանայ (zaṙatxanay).
