Ultimately from a Proto-Oghuz term attested as Old Anatolian Turkish سلجك (Selcuk) in the Dede Korkut and Karakhanid سلجك (Selcuk) in Mahmud al-Kashgari's Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk, of uncertain etymology. See Seljuk.
