editInherited from Proto-Turkic *soglï- (“to breathe”), the same root of صولوق (soluk, “(heavy) breath, pant, gasp”); cognate with Southern Altai соолыыр (soolïïr), Tatar суларга (sularga) and Yakut уолуй (uoluy).
