  1. to divert oneself, to fool around, to putz around [with بِ (bi) ‘wherewith’]
    لَهَوْنَا بِلَعْبِ الْوَرَقِlahawnā bi-laʕbi l-waraqiWe amused ourselves playing cards.
    • 7th century CE, Jamīʿ at-Tirmiḏiyy, section 37:
      بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ سَهَا وَلَهَا وَنَسِيَ الْمَقَابِرَ وَٱلْبِلَى
