Etymology edit

A noun of place given during Islamicization (outgoing Umayyad era) from رَاغَ (rāḡa, to swerve, to approach furtively, to turn for address or giving food etc.), or أَرَاغَ (ʔarāḡa, to search; to desire (said of camels)), referring to animals lying in the mud in which they wallow (تَرَوَّغَ (tarawwaḡa, form V)).
