Inherited from Prakrit 𑀘𑀉𑀯𑁂𑀤 (caüveda), 𑀘𑀉𑀯𑁂𑀬 (caüveya), 𑀘𑀉𑀯𑁆𑀯𑁂𑀤 (caüvveda) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit चतुर्वेदी (caturvedī).
