Etymology

From the root ܠܘܫ (lwš, to knead, mix; to weld, solder, braze), whence also ܠܐܵܫܵܐ (lāšā, to knead , to work and press into a mass (usually with the hands)), ܠܝܵܫܵܐ (liāšā, to knead , to work and press into a mass usually with the hands, to work by repeated pressure with the knuckles into a well-mixed mass (like dough)).[1][2] See Armenian լավաշ (lavaš) for more.
