Borrowed from Classical Persian گناه (gunāh), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (wnʾs /⁠wināh⁠/), 𐫇𐫏𐫗𐫀𐫍 (wynʾh /⁠wināh⁠/, sin, crime). Compare Gujarati ગુનો (guno), Hindi गुनाह (gunāh), Punjabi ਗੁਨਾਹ (gunāh) / گُناہ (gunāh), Bengali গোনা (gōna).
