Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀡𑀝𑁆𑀞 (ṇaṭṭha), from Sanskrit नष्ट (naṣṭa, destroyed), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *naṣṭás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *naštás, from Proto-Indo-European *neḱ-tós, from *neḱ- (to perish). Cognate with Gujarati નાઠું (nāṭhũ). Doublet of नष्ट (naṣṭ).
