Inherited from Old Marathi बाहिर (bāhira), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀩𑀸𑀳𑀺𑀭 (bāhira), from a derivative of Sanskrit बाह्य (bāhya). Compare Assamese বাহিৰ (bahir), Hindi बाहर (bāhar).
