Etymology edit

Ultimately from Arabic مَسْخَرَة (masḵara)[1] (compare Persian مسخرگی (masxaragi)). Compare Gujarati મશ્કરી (maśkarī), Hindustani مَسْخَرِی (masxarī) / मसख़री (masxarī), Punjabi ਮਸ਼ਕਰੀ (maśkarī) / مَشکَری (maśkarī).
