Borrowed from Classical Persian راه (rāh), from Middle Persian rʾh (rāh), from Proto-Iranian *Hrāθáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hrātʰás, from Proto-Indo-European *Hret- (“to roll”). Compare Punjabi ਰਾਹ (rāh).
