1. to pray to heaven

   1. (Vitse, absolutive-dative alignment)

      ჲულუნ, გჲულუნ, ნცას ახვამენ. მუნორენ? - ოჩამბრეში მანგანა.

      yulun, gyulun, nʒas axvamen. munoren? - oçambreşi mangana.

      (riddle) It descends, ascends, prays to the sky, what is it? - A pestle.

   2. (Arkabi)
      1. (absolutive-dative alignment) to beg to heaven

         ქჩინი თანგრიზ ახვამენ.

         kçini tangriz axvamen.

         The old woman is begging to God.

      2. (ergative-dative alignment) to pray to God

         ქჩინიქ “მოთბღურუტა” ჲა დო სეჲინდღალეჲი თანგრიზ ახვამენ.

         kçinik “motbğuruťa” ya do seyindğaleyi tangriz axvamen.

         The old woman prays to God morning and night not to die.

Usage notes

• The ergative subject of the verb with the stem ა- (a-) and the suffixed representational form -ენ (-en) is a surprising exception observed only in Arkabi dialects. See also ახვეწენ (axveǯen)
