Etymology edit

From Middle Khmer biroḥ ~ biyaroḥ (to resound; to be resounding, sonorous, full, sweet-sounding, melodious), probably an anomalous expansion of Khmer ព្រោះ (prŭəh, to sow, to broadcast). Related to Thai พิเราะ, เพราะ (prɔ́), ไพเราะ (pai-rɔ́).
