- (editorial siglum, New Testament) A mark for alternative readings: ⟨⸀⟩ is placed before a single word that is replaced by other words in some manuscripts.
Usage notes
editThe alternative readings are given in the apparatus criticus.
When a second alternative reading occurs in a verse, the dotted form ⟨⸁⟩ is used to distinctively mark the second instance.
