Etymology edit

Onomatopoeic.

1. Describing the sound or appearance of lightly stirring or rinsing water. 2. Maybe from Chinese (涮羊肉), and the name comes from the way the meat is boiled and swam in the shabu shabu

First attested in 1963.[1]
