Usage notes edit
This term, while usually neutral, may sound offensive to Mainlanders because of its apparent meaning (Etymology 1). In 2018, the Council of Agriculture of the Republic of China published a post on Facebook to proscribe the use of this term in favour of 福山萵苣/福山莴苣 (Fúshān wōjù) and other alternatives.[1]
