Letter edit
ꞅ (upper case Ꞅ)
- Insular script form of s.
- Johnson (1828): To STARVE. v. n. [ꞅꞇeaꞃꝼan, Sax. sterven, Dut. to die.]
Usage notes edit
This is normally encoded as an ASCII s and handled by the font, as there is no semantic distinction between the two styles. There is occasional mixed text, as in the etymology for 'starve' in Johnson's 1828 dictionary above.
