Inherited from Old Javanese prakāśa (bright, shining, clearly illuminated; famed; clearly audible, loud, noisy; fierce, forcible, untamable, violent), from Sanskrit प्रकाश (prakāśa, visible, shining, bright; manifest, public; universally noted, famous; clearness, brightness, splendour; publicity, fame). Doublet of ꦥꦿꦏꦺꦴꦱ (prakosa).
