Etymology

The second element is perhaps the nominalizing suffix 개/게 (-kay, -key), which lenites after a liquid-final verb stem, although the etymon verb is not clear. Compare ᄃᆞᆯ애 (tolGay, saddle flap) from ᄃᆞᆯ (tol-, to attach).
