김심

editEtymology
editNativisation of the Sino-Korean term 점심 (點心, jeomsim, “lunch, snack”). Hypercorrected via the same process that produced 김치 (gimchi, “kimchi”), 기와 (giwa, “roof tile”).
Pronunciation
edit- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈki(ː)mɕʰim]
- Phonetic hangul: [김(ː)심]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
