Passive form of 쏟다 (ssotda, “to spill”), formed through the addition of the passivizing suffix -지다 (-jida) to the infinitive 쏟아 (ssoda). First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 소다디다 (Yale: swotatita).
