editEtymologically, a portmanteau of two Lojban words: (luj is the rafsi (“portmanteau-form/abbreviation/affix/combining form”) of the gismu (“root word”) pluja (“complex”)) combined with the rafsi (“portmanteau-form”) vo of the gismu (“root word”) valsi (“a word”).[1]
