This word was abandoned before the language was first presented online in 2001, but it has been revived by members of the Toki Pona community in the late 2010s. While still uncommon, the word is now somewhat popular among proficient speakers.

In lipu Linku this word is classified as "uncommon," being used by 32% of respondents in a poll from August 2022.

This word is used in Sonja Lang's translation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
