Category talk:North Frisian verb inflection-table templates
Usage
editIn each dialect, the default table is for a simple verb with perfect auxiliary "to have", while template "2" is for a verb with perfect auxiliary "to be". I have added templates "3" and "4" for separable verbs. In each of these four groups (as far as seemed relevant), I've created additional sub-templates "irr" (irregular), "uni" (unipersonal, i.e. 3rd person only) and "unisg" (3rd person singular only).
The "irr" templates are not required for ordinary irregular or strong verbs, but only for a limited number featuring the following particularities:
- Verbs distinguishing forms that are generally always identical. These are 12 in Mooring (düünj, fliinj, heewe, mötje, schale, siinj, slüünj, tiinj, tüünj, waase, wale, weese), 5 in Föhr-Amrum (kem, skel, wed, wees, wel) and just 1 in Sylt (wiis).
- Verbs that have no imperative. These are all modal verbs and a very small number of others.
- In Mooring additionally the verbs lade, seede, stönje (preterite in -n instead of -en) and any verb with variant forms in the preterite.
I've also shortened the parameters. The usual ones are:
- "inf_2" = second infinitive,
- "ppp" = past participle,
- "pres_1" = 1st person sg. present (only needed in Mooring!),
- "pres_2" = 2nd person sg. present,
- "pres_3" = 3rd person sg. present,
- "past_1" = 1st person sg. preterite,
- "past_2" = 2nd person sg. preterite.
The derived templates ("irr", "uni", "unisg") may have additional or slightly different parametres, but it's all self-explanatory.
With separable verbs (templates "3" and "4") you can simply copy the template of the basic verb, change the number (1>3, 2>4), and add the parametres "prefix" and "verb" (the latter being the basic verb). In the derived templates, "verb" can be dropped. These seperable templates don't work well with variants in the paradigma. Sometimes you can use parentheses (cf. "önjkiike"). Otherwise you'll have to make two templates or you simply take the predominant forms and add a note such as "For conjugational variants see the basic verb XY."
Of course these templates are still rather primitive, but I've actually improved them a lot (compared to the way they were) and at any rate as much as I can with my limited programming skills. 2.202.159.43 17:55, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
