Etymology

The community was established in the 1880's around a mechanical pulp mill built by the company Enso Träsliperi Aktiebolaget, hence the name. When Finland ceded territory to the Soviet Union after the WWII, the town was renamed Светогорск (Svetogorsk, “Svetogorsk”).
