From Ojibwe Wadoopikaang (wah-do-be-kang, “where the alders grow”) [script needed]. From the Mississaugas name of the land between the Etobicoke Creek and the Humber River. First transliterated into English as Ato-be-coake, becoming Tobacock, before becoming Etobicoke.
