Etymology edit

From gloyw (bright, shining, sparkling),[1] from Middle Welsh gloyw, from Old Welsh gloiu, from Proto-Brythonic *gluɨw (compare Old Irish glé (clear, evident)).[2] Possibly from short forms of given names containing gloyw (compare Old Cornish Gloiucen, Gloiumed).
