editFirst attested as Die Hollantse Radinge in 1696. Derived from Hollands (“of or pertaining to Holland”) and a hypercorrect form of raaiing (“boundary line, boundary”). The settlement is located next to a ditch which marks the border between Utrecht and Noord-Holland.
