English edit

Etymology edit

Transliteration of Russian Иулия́нов (Iulijánov), from Иулиа́н (Iulián) + -ов (-ov, genitive possessive ending).

From Latin Iulianus, the Russian forename of St. Julian of Tarsus (~305 AD).

The name Iulianus may have a similar root to the Roman gens Iūlius, possibly a contraction of the Old Latin personal name *Iovilios (descended from or pertaining to Jove). See Iove.
