Etymology edit

First attested as kaense in 1319. Etymology unclear. Potentially derived from keen (gully, creek) suffixed with a collectivising suffix, although the morphology of the toponym does not match well with this etymology. Compare Keent and Kinrooi.

Pronunciation edit

  • Hyphenation: Kein‧se

Proper noun edit

Keinse n

  1. A hamlet in Schagen, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
