Named after Irving Langmuir and Katharine B. Blodgett, who invented the technique at General Electric Co.

Langmuir-Blodgett film (plural Langmuir-Blodgett films)

  1. A nanostructured system formed when monolayers are transferred from a liquid-gas interface to solid supports during the vertical passage of the support through the monolayers.
