Manningtree
English
editEtymology
editFrom Old English manig (“many”) + treow (“tree”).
Proper noun
editManningtree
- A small town and civil parish with a town council in Tendring district, Essex, England (OS grid ref TM1031).
Usage notes
editManningtree claims to be the smallest town in England, which may be true in terms of area. Although a branch line with a passenger service passes the town, its railway station is on the main line, about a mile to the west in Lawford parish.
