Dutch
editEtymology
editFirst attested as Pletsenborch in 1665. Named after a former castle, the name of which is of unknown etymology. The name of the castle may derive from a term cognate with Middle Low German plette (“flat, evenly placed”) and Middle Dutch borch (“fortified settlement, castle”).
